Burial Information
Researching your ancestors and family history? Want to locate or learn more about a specific burial site? There are more than 5,500 graves at the Santa Rosa Rural Cemetery, and the Preservation Committee researches and maintains a roster of the known burials. They can provide location and some genealogical data, where it is available.
Memorial Program
The Santa Rosa Rural Cemetery's Memorial Program allows individuals or families to install a memorial stone and plaque to honor those whose burial site is elsewhere or unknown. Memorial stones are permanently mounted in the Rose Garden. For more information, click here.
2021 Burial Listings Book
On June 1, 2021, an extensively revised and updated Rural Cemetery Burial Listings book was released for purchase. Sandy Frary and Raymond Owen with the Rural Cemetery Preservation Committee spent over 13-years researching and compiling the information for the updated book that lists burials at the historic Rural Cemetery dating back to 1854. All book proceeds benefit the outstanding work of the Rural Cemetery Preservation Committee, a group of dedicated volunteers working with the City to maintain, preserve and share the history of the Rural Cemetery with our community. To learn about the research that went into the book and for a preview of some of the interesting stories, read this Press Democrat Feature Article.
