2010 Master Plan Documents
Adoption of Master Plan
On February 15, 2011, the City Council adopted the 2010 Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan (BPMP) Update. On April 5, 2011, the City Council directed Community Development staff to proceed with zoning code amendments for bicycle parking requirements for new and redevelopment projects. The BPMP is evaluated and updated every 8 years to assess the alignment between the community needs and goals of the master plan.
The Plan is a critical tool in building a citywide transportation system that is bicycle and pedestrian friendly. The process in developing the Plan examines existing conditions including demand and usage, existing connections, level of traffic stress analysis, and safe routes to schools. The process also looks at design guidelines, goals/policies, bicycle and pedestrian route priorities, recommendations and implementation strategies. The goal of the plan is to encourage a modal shift from the single occupancy vehicle to more bicycling and walking.
