The City of Santa Rosa’s police and fire departments can send you public safety alerts, press releases, and information notifications via text message, email, or voice mail (in extreme cases), based on your preferences.

The system is intended to be used for emergency alerts, as well as non-emergency incidents that may have significant impacts to residents. In addition to receiving information on your wireless device, you may also receive notification on your land telephone line (if you have one), depending on the type of incident or event.

Sign up to receive public safety alerts, press releases, and information notifications.
To sign up, please provide your address and preferred methods of contact. Adding your address will allow geographic targeting so you do not receive alerts unless they pertain to your geographical area. These alerts are provided free of charge, however standard text messaging rates and other charges may apply. Alternatively, you may download the AlertSense myAlerts App for Apple and Android devices.

How do I subscribe to CivicReady for the City of Santa Rosa?
Go to SRCity.MyFreeAlerts.com and click on the “Sign Up” button to complete the registration form. Select to receive “Public Safety Alerts” and/or “Public Safety News” from both the police and fire departments. Why am I NOT receiving CivicReady messages?
There are two possible reasons why you may not be receiving CivicReady messages from the City of Santa Rosa:

  • Reason 1: Not all CivicReady messages are delivered as text messages. Public Safety Alerts are delivered by email always, text message when imminent/urgent, and very rarely as a voice call. Public Safety News items are delivered by email only. If you would like to modify your settings to receive email messages also, please click here.
  • Reason 2: Upon subscribing to CivicReady, you received a verification text (from [email protected] or 38276) or email (from [email protected]) to confirm your subscription. If you missed the confirmation email or text, please click on the "Modify or Unsubscribe" button to access your account and re-trigger the verification. You will not receive messages until you verify your account.

I want to change how I receive CivicReady messages; how do I make edits to my preferences? 
Go to SRCity.MyFreeAlerts.com and click on the “Modify or Unsubscribe” button to make any desired edits to your delivery preferences. 

Do I need to input my address?
Providing your address will allow geographic targeting so you can receive notifications specific to your neighborhood. If you prefer not to provide your physical address, you may input “Santa Rosa, CA” instead in the address field.

Why is the City of Santa Rosa transitioning to this new service? 
CivicReady provides multiple new advantages to Santa Rosa residents from previous services, including more precise geotargeting, fewer service interruptions, improved flexibility and control over the distribution of text messages, and now residents can identify their preferred written and spoken languages.

Will the City of Santa Rosa still send emergency notifications?
CivicReady is only replacing Nixle. SoCoAlert is still Santa Rosa's primary emergency alerting system for large-scale emergencies. The City of Santa Rosa uses multiple notifications and warning systems to ensure emergency information is delivered to the people who need the information. CivicReady is yet another way the City of Santa Rosa keeps residents informed. Now is a good time for residents to review the alerting systems they are currently subscribed to (SoCoAlert, etc.) and make any important contact information changes (phone number, email, home/school/business address, etc.).
