Arts District

Since the 1990s, the City of Santa Rosa has strived to build a thriving public art program. In recent years, these efforts have paid off with tremendous successes, including the creation of the Santa Rosa Arts District.

Since 2006, Downtown Santa Rosa has been a designated Arts District. The community is encouraged to bring art and cultural events to the district, benefiting the area and the entire region.

District Goals

The goal of the Arts District is to create a beautiful and inspiring destination that maximizes the public's opportunities to experience art.

Business Plan

On June 2, 2009, the City Council adopted the City of Santa Rosa Arts District Business Plan. Approved by the Art in Public Places Committee in May 2008, the Business Plan identifies and assesses Santa Rosa's current art and cultural assets and maps out steps which can be taken to develop a rich and vibrant Arts District downtown. It addresses how the Arts District can support itself in the coming years and provides concrete action steps for meeting these goals.

The Arts District lies in the area bordered by College Avenue and Bennett Valley Road, and Brookwood Avenue and west of Railroad Square.

Venues

With venues like Courthouse and Railroad Squares, Juilliard Park, Luther Burbank Home and Gardens, SOFA District and The Sonoma County Museum, a wide range of arts and cultural experiences will celebrate the full spectrum of arts media and expressions. The goal of the Arts District is to create a beautiful and inspiring destination that maximizes the public's opportunities to experience art.
