The Property and Evidence Team is staffed by 3 Technicians, Monday – Friday, except for some holidays. These technicians are responsible for the logging and releasing of evidence items brought to them by department personnel and maintaining the chain of custody for all items booked in.
The property is stored until it can be returned to the legal owner, the case has been adjudicated in court, or until the statute of limitations has expired. Approximately 15,000 to 20,000 items of evidence pass through Property and Evidence each year. These items consist of:

Property is released to the rightful owner or their designee with photo identification (such as a driver's license, ID card or passport), by appointment only from 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday through Friday. We also offer "Walk-in Wednesdays" where no appointment is necessary between the hours of 9:00am – 4:00pm each Wednesday for property that is determined to be releasable. No appointments will be scheduled on holidays as the Property Evidence Room is closed on holidays.
The technicians are not always in their office, so appointments are scheduled to ensure the technicians will be available at the designated time to release property.
