The next Public Safety Subcommittee Meeting is set to take place this Friday, August 7 at 9:00 a.m. This subcommittee, which is newly established by the Mayor of Santa Rosa and met for the first time on July 1, is tasked with review of public safety policies and procedures and is an open public meeting. Topics on the agenda for this Friday’s meeting include updates and discussion on several Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) items including:

  • Alternative models for response to mental illness and homelessness
  • Results and next steps for SRPD’s preliminary audit of impacts associated with mental illness/homelessness related calls for service
  • Update on School Resource Officers Ad Hoc Committee which was formed by Santa Rosa City Schools to evaluate the value of the School Resource Officer (SRO) Program within their District
  • 21st Century Policing and Legislative updates
  • Review of 2019 transparency data including calls for service, arrests, and use of force (
