No matter what school your child attends or their virtual classroom schedule, the School of Rec - Distance Learning Camp & Care is here to help you support your child during the COVID-19 distance learning challenge! This program provides a learning environment where small consistent groups (cohorts) of up to 12 youth participate in their individual virtual classroom sessions. Youth will be spaced six feet apart, allowing them to remove their face coverings so their teacher can hear them speak through their computer (youth must provide their own laptop/tablet and earbuds). In addition, groups will meet in a secondary space for arts, crafts and academic enrichment activities led by Camp & Care staff, enjoy exercise and group games at neighboring Finley Community Park and Steele Lane Park, and take field trips to Finley Aquatic Center for lifeguard supervised swimming.
About Our Staff & Safety Procedures
The School of Rec - Distance Learning Camp & Care is primarily staffed by camp counselors from Santa Rosa Recreation & Parks’ summer day camps, who have received additional training in effective homework assistance, as well as procedures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Groups will maintain social distance from each other, and children will undergo a daily health screening and temperature check. Staff will disinfect program materials throughout the day.
