News Flash_Heat Advisory_8.14.20

The National Weather Service (NWS) has forecasted a long duration heat wave will impact the region from Friday through at least Wednesday of next week. Tomorrow’s Heat Advisory is considered a Moderate Heat Risk Event by the NWS. The City of Santa Rosa will continue to monitor the conditions over the next several days and will activate a cooling center based on factors such as day and night time temperatures and the level of Heat Risk.

Residents are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. Visit for preparedness related information.
