*HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 8 PM THURSDAY (10/1)*
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Heat Advisory that will impact the region on Thursday of this week. Temperatures in the upper 90s to low 100s are expected. The City of Santa Rosa will open a cooling center at Franklin Clubhouse (2095 Franklin Avenue, Santa Rosa) on Thursday, October 1st. Residents are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible.
