[ARCHIVED] Water Quality Not Impacted by Fires

Water Quality Sampling

Santa Rosa’s water system was NOT compromised during the Glass Fire Incident. Throughout the fire, Santa Rosa Water system operators closely monitored the community’s water system.  The water system remained fully functioning, meaning pressure in the system was maintained and prevented contaminants from entering the water system.

To ensure drinking water met and continues to meet all safe drinking water standards, Santa Rosa Water is monitoring water quality and performing routine sampling. As an additional precaution in the fire impacted areas, Santa Rosa Water is flushing the water system, taking additional samples at all water sample stations and sampling all 66 hydrants in the fire impacted areas.

At burned properties, Santa Rosa Water has removed the water meter and flushed the water service line, the line from the water main in the street to the property’s water meter. Additional sampling of those service lines at burned properties will be performed on Sunday, October 4. As of October 4, 2020 all water quality samples to date, including samples from the burn area, meet all safe drinking water standards.
