The Santa Rosa Fire Department has opened specific Emergency Vehicle Access (EVA) road gates in identified areas to allow emergency vehicles the ability to patrol freely and move around the areas during the peak of the forecast wind event. If an emergency evacuation in these areas become necessary, based on conditions, public safety officials may also instruct residents to use these EVAs. Public safety officials from the Police and Fire Departments will make the determination if any other gates need to be opened. Gates for the following EVA roads have been proactively opened at this time:
• Meadowmont Lane (Connects Montecito Avenue to Montecito Meadow Drive)
• Connection between Terra Linda Drive and Lake Park Drive
• Connection between Baldwin Avenue and Andy Way
• Connection Between Ronnie Drive and Bennett Valley Road
• Hansford Court (Connects Hansford Ct with Parker Hill Rd)
The Timber Springs Drive EVA (connection to Channel Drive) will remain closed to prevent after-hours access to Annadel State Park but will be opened by public safety officials if an evacuation in the area were to become necessary.
*Note: EVA roads are designed specifically for public safety officials, so they are able to reach areas and/or residents during an emergency evacuation as soon as possible. This is why EVAs are often locked and restricted from routine public vehicle traffic and are required to adhere to Fire Department key access requirements. Although EVAs are primarily used for emergency vehicle access, they can also be used to facilitate evacuations of the public when conditions warrant the use. When an EVA is used to facilitate evacuations, those actions are coordinated by public safety officials, including law and fire.
