The City of Santa Rosa has appointed Jan Mazyck to serve as Chief Financial Officer, a role responsible for overseeing the City’s financial and accounting functions, including budgeting, accounting, purchasing and long-term planning.
Mazyck will lead a 94-person team managing the City’s $436.6 million budget and all associated financial functions that support the City, its residents, and the business community.
Mazyck’s career spans 20+ years in governmental leadership, financial management and strategy. She joins the City of Santa Rosa from the United States Department of the Treasury, Office of Technical Assistance (International Affairs). As an advisor with the Budget and Financial Accountability team, Mazyck supported the efforts of counterparts in transitioning countries to strengthen their public financial management practices with the goals of longer-term financial stability and broader economic success.
With an expansive career helping California governments and quasi-governmental entities finance infrastructure in the public interest, combined with a broad range of financial and management solutions, Jan has also held leadership roles as chief financial officer, finance director, and treasurer.
“I am thrilled to bring on Jan as a member of the Santa Rosa team,” said City Manager Sean McGlynn. “Her extensive background in financial management will be especially critical in helping to lead the City through our continuing work to stabilize a budget that has been challenged by the pandemic and wildfire disasters in recent years.”
Mazyck graduated from Golden Gate University, San Francisco, CA with post graduate studies at the University of California at Los Angeles Anderson School and the Harvard Kennedy School.
Mazyck’s official start date with the City of Santa Rosa will be January 4, 2021.
