Winter rains are anticipated, making it critical that property owners in Glass Fire burn areas, or downhill of burned areas, have preventative measure in place now to prevent ash, debris, and sediment from entering local creeks and waterways.
To assist property owners, the City of Santa Rosa is providing weighted wattles (at no cost to the property owner) at two locations:
- Rincon Valley Community Park
- Skyhawk Park
Simply drive up and take what is needed to secure your property, while supplies last. Please note that it is the property owner’s responsibility to maintain, replace, and dispose of the weighted wattles. Properly installing and maintaining weighted wattles prevents storm water from carrying ash, debris, and sediment into a nearby storm drain or waterway. Storm water that enters the storm drain system flows, untreated, to a nearby creek.
For questions regarding installation or to learn more about storm water pollution prevention, your responsibilities as a property owner, or inquiries about the availability of additional wattles, please visit srcity.org/BeRainReady or email the Storm Water team at stormwater@srcity.org. Thank you for doing your part to protect our watershed.
