The City of Santa Rosa is working to identify options to improve bicycle and pedestrian safety and access along Stony Point Road between Sebastopol Road and West 3rd Street, including the crossing over Highway 12.  The City is hosting an online virtual community workshop on Wednesday, November 18, at 6 p.m. to collect input from community members on initial design concepts to help understand how well they address the concerns along the corridor.

This project was identified in the City’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan Update, which was adopted in 2018.  Design concepts include adding striping or a barrier to the existing bike lanes to provide greater separation and protection for bicyclists from vehicle traffic and enhanced striping at pedestrian crossings to improve pedestrian visibility. The anticipated benefits to pedestrians and bicyclists will be considered along with the impacts of these options on traffic patterns.

“Stony Point Road provides access to numerous shopping destinations, neighborhoods and Joe Rodota Trail” said Deputy Director Traffic Engineering Rob Sprinkle. “We’re looking forward to hearing from residents about how we can make it a more comfortable place to bike and walk.”

A virtual community meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 18, at 6 p.m. to solicit input from the public on the proposed improvements.  City staff and the consultant team will deliver a presentation of the potential concepts, collect comments from participants, and respond to questions. Spanish translation will be provided.
