Then please consider attending the Santa Rosa Climate Change Adaptation Workshop, which focuses on building local capacity and empowering community members to use their own knowledge to help increase the resilience of Santa Rosa to climate change.

The City of Santa Rosa is collaborating with EcoAdapt and Virginia Tech to improve understanding about local climate change impacts and vulnerabilities and develop implementable adaptation responses. EcoAdapt is a non-profit organization that brings together diverse players to reshape planning and management in response to rapid climate change. Marc Stern, Professor and project PI from Virginia Tech regularly conducts research in collaborative natural resource management processes. This virtual workshop is part of a National Science Foundation-funded study that aims to determine what factors support effective climate adaptation learning and catalyze post-workshop action to create resilience.

Who should attend: Anyone who is interested in incorporating climate considerations into long-range planning for Santa Rosa, particularly those whose job includes management or planning for organizations, resources, or infrastructure. Topic areas include: land use, transportation, environmental justice, economic vitality, housing, open space and conservation, public services, and noise and safety.

Why you should attend:

• Share your knowledge. Workshop activities and discussions will focus on identifying vulnerabilities and developing adaptation strategies to reduce those vulnerabilities and increase resilience of community assets. Come share your local knowledge and expertise in small and large breakout group discussions and gain additional insights from your colleagues and peers.
• Create new and enhance existing partnerships. This workshop provides a forum where you can connect with partners to explore what climate adaptation options are available, and identify areas for improved collaboration and cooperation.
• Acquire new tools and resources. Climate adaptation tools, resources, and activities will be presented for participants to use during the workshop and in their own management and planning efforts.
