[ARCHIVED] 1.28.21

The City took action in advance of this week’s forecasted Flash Flood event to help relocate homeless community members along the Prince Memorial Greenway (PMG) into shelter as well as clear trash and debris from along the creek’s edge. The City’s Homeless Encampment Assistance Program (HEAP) acted to close and clean up the PMG encampment for the safety of individuals living along the creek and to prevent environmental impacts from debris being washed into the creek during the storm surge. Following outreach beginning last Friday and throughout the weekend, approximately 20 individuals were offered options for shelter, nine of whom accepted shelter placements. City crews removed nearly 90 yards of debris from the surrounding area including along the creek. HEAP is monitoring conditions throughout the City and is focused next on addressing encampments at Industrial Drive and Jennings Park. READ MORE ABOUT HEAP
