When Vaccination is Your Destination Ride Fare Free

Santa Rosa CityBus, in coordination with Sonoma County Transit (SCT) and Petaluma Transit (PT), are now offering systemwide fare-free transit and paratransit transportation for any person traveling to or from a City/County COVID-19 vaccination site with proof of vaccination appointment on the day of travel.

Given the ongoing public health emergency, this program is intended to help address the financial and transportation-related barriers many residents may face to accessing COVID-19 vaccinations. This fare-free service includes regular bus service, regular paratransit service, City of Santa Rosa shuttle service and Call-Ahead services instituted to fill gaps in the transit service network during the COVID-19 pandemic. To qualify for this service, passengers must show proof of vaccination appointment, in print or on their mobile device, to the transit operator when boarding the vehicle.

Santa Rosa CityBus and Santa Rosa Paratransit both currently serve vaccination sites within the city limits. CityBus recently added a direct shuttle service providing an easy connection from the downtown transit mall to the Sonoma County Fairgrounds, Grace Pavilion vaccination site.

Petaluma Transit and Paratransit serves three vaccination sites within the City of Petaluma. More information on Petaluma Transit can be found at  https://transit.cityofpetaluma.net/ or 707-778-4421.

Sonoma County Transit and Paratransit provide access to 17 vaccination sites located throughout the County.  For trip planning assistance, visit sctransit.com or call 800-345-7433.

Sonoma County local transit agencies continue to provide safe, reliable essential trip options for persons who must travel during the COVID-19 pandemic. Health and safety precautions designed to slow the spread will remain in place for all riders and operators, including wearing a face covering, safe social distancing, enhanced cleaning and sanitizing of vehicles, and frequent handwashing.

Suspension of fares for trips to vaccination appointments will remain in effect until further notice.
