[ARCHIVED] Spotlight on Women in Leadership for Women's History Month

NF Womens HERstory Month

March is Women's History Month, commemorating and encouraging the celebration of the vital role of women in history. The Santa Rosa Police Department is making women’s history with the appointment of several accomplished women to leadership roles. From the SWAT Team to Command Staff, women play a big role in the operation of our City’s police department.

Last year, Jeneane Kucker became the first female lieutenant in the department’s 154-year history. Lt. Kucker was promoted to the position after serving 24 years, including being the first woman to join the department’s elite SWAT team.

Just this year, Brenda Harrington became the second woman in the department to ascend to the rank of lieutenant. Lt. Harrington brings 23 years of experience to the position, including management roles leading the Department’s Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault team, Hostage Negotiation Team, and multiple patrol teams.

Communications Supervisor, Gina Giomi, just recently promoted to Technical Services Manager, one of the highest-ranking civilian positions within the Department. TSM Giomi has been a supervisor of the department’s dispatchers for the past 8 years, most notably leading the dispatchers during the Tubbs and Glass Fires.

Administrative Services Officer, Pamela Lorence, holds an important administrative leadership position within the Department. ASO Lorence has a wealth of experience with budgets and grants, not only within the police department but also from the City’s Water and Transit departments.

These four women are blazing the trail for many more to follow. SRPD proudly employs numerous women, with many already in leadership roles spanning collateral assignments to sergeant positions and beyond. Are you a woman interested in a law enforcement career?
