During the week of 3.8.21, the team from the Homeless Encampment Assistance Program (HEAP) focused on an encampment at Jennings Park. Closure and clean-up of the encampment occurred on Tuesday, following more than a week of outreach to provide unsheltered community members with options for shelter and services. Of the approximately 15-20 individuals at the encampment, nine initially accepted shelter at the City’s Sam Jones Hall and five have moved into shelter. Those who accepted shelter placements also received help with transportation and storage of belongings. The Homeless Service Outreach Team (HOST) will continue to engage individuals that expressed interest in shelter as well as those that opted to relocate to other areas of the community. Homelessness in Santa Rosa is a critical, community-wide concern and a top priority of the City Council. Community members are encouraged to review the City’s programs, actions, and plans to address homelessness at the following links:
