Prompted by health and safety concerns, the Homeless Encampment Assistance Program (HEAP) focused efforts on an encampment at Yolanda Avenue over the last week of April and first week of May 2021. Clean up and closure of the encampment was completed on May 6, 2021. This followed extensive outreach and engagement efforts, providing community members at the encampment with options for shelter placements and homeless services. HEAP operating parameters and the restrictions of a preliminary injunction were followed. The team's next focus is an encampment on Morgan Street, where outreach to provide community members at the encampment with options for shelter and services will be completed soon in advance of planned closure and cleanup of the encampment during the week of May 11, 2021.
