The NWS has issued a Heat Advisory for the North Bay, including all of Santa Rosa, which will be in effect from 11AM Wednesday (6/16) through 1PM Friday (6/18). The Heat Advisory for Wednesday will be upgraded to an Excessive Heat Warning for the North Bay Mountains ONLY and will be in effect from 11AM Thursday (6/17) through 1PM Friday (6/18).
Expect hot daytime temperatures and poor overnight humidity and temperature recoveries. Breezy conditions on Wednesday will lead to elevated fire concerns. We have experienced an increase in fire activity in the region. We encourage our community to avoid activities that could accidentally start a fire.
Cooling trend begins Friday, but warm temperatures will continue into the weekend. Temperatures will create an increased risk of dehydration and heat stroke. Please remember to bring hats, sunscreen and water, take frequent breaks in shady areas, and stay well hydrated.
NOTE: The City has plans for the activation of a cooling center in the event weather and humidity conditions reach the trigger points for their use.
