[ARCHIVED] Red Flag Warning and Wind Advisory for North Bay Valleys and Mountains

*RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FOR NORTH BAY MOUNTAINS FROM 11PM SUNDAY (10/10) TO 5PM TUESDAY (10/12)*

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for gusty north to northeast winds and low humidity. This replaces the Fire Weather Watch.

* TIMING... Sunday night into Tuesday. Strong winds will be more widespread during the day Monday.
* WINDS... North to Northeast 15 to 25 mph with gusts 35 to 45 mph, locally higher gusts up to 60 mph.
* HUMIDITY... Minimum day time humidities 10-20 percent. Overnight recoveries 20-40 percent for the interior mountains of Sonoma County, Napa County, and East Bay, but higher recoveries of 50-65 percent for coastal mountains.
* IMPACTS... Any fire starts would likely see rapid spread due to dry fuels, low humidity and gusty winds. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:
Review your evacuation checklist which can be found and printed in English and Spanish at srcity.org/ReadySR. Ensure cell phones are charged and prepare for potential power outages from trees and or powerlines down from the forecasted winds.

North Bay Valleys, including ALL of Santa Rosa will be under a WIND ADVISORY Monday (10/11) from 9AM TO 8PM

North Bay Mountain will be under a WIND ADVISORY from 11PM Sunday (10/10) to 8PM Monday (10/11)

* WHAT... North to northeast winds 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected, locally gusting 60 mph over the highest peaks.
* WHERE... Locally, Coastal North Bay as well as the North Bay Valleys and North Bay Mountains
* IMPACTS... Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, and create hazardous driving conditions. Trees could be blown down, and a few power outages may result. Have cell phones charged and flashlights handy if power outages occur.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... Strongest winds will likely occur Monday morning with a secondary max Monday afternoon.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:
Review Emergency Preparedness information at srcity.org/ReadySR. Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor object.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE 10/8/21

Gusty northerly winds and dry conditions will develop late Sunday evening through late Tuesday afternoon for the interior areas locally  in the North Bay mountains. North winds will quickly increase late Sunday night, especially over more interior portions of the North and East Bay. These winds, combined with low humidities and dry fuels, may result in critical fire weather conditions.

* TIMING... 11PM Sunday (10/10) to 5PM Tuesday (10/12).
* AFFECTED AREA… Locally, the North Bay Mountains, locations generally over 1000 feet in elevation.
* WIND… North to Northeast 15 to 25 mph with gusts 30 to 40 mph, locally higher gusts 50 mph to 60 mph. Strongest winds are expected along the eastern areas of Napa, Contra Costa, and Alameda counties.
* HUMIDITY… Overnight recoveries 20-40%. Minimum daytime humidities 10-20%.
* IMPACTS… Any fire starts would likely see rapid spread due to dry fuels, low humidity and gusty winds. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
