Update 10/25
Chanate Road is reopened for eastbound traffic following repairs to fix a water main break. The westbound traffic detour remains in place as work continues on the construction of the North Trunk Sewer Replacement project - Chanate Road.
______
Chanate Road is closed today Monday, Oct. 25, at the intersection of Chanate Road and Humboldt Street, due to an early morning water main break that occurred between Terra Linda and Murdock drives. Traffic control staff are onsite redirecting traffic at the intersection of Chanate Road and Humboldt Street as the road closure is expected to be in place through today as crews work to repair the water main and the roadway. Residents should plan to use alternate travel routes for the rest of the day, especially during the afternoon commute.
Residents living within the road closure area will be able to gain access to their residence by speaking to one of the traffic control staff located at the intersection of Chanate Road and Humboldt Street – all other vehicles will be redirected.
Crews were notified and responded to the water main break at 4:30 a.m. this morning and water service was restored to three homes impacted by the break just after 6 a.m. this morning. The cause of the break has not yet been determined, but repairs are expected to be completed by the end of today, barring any unforeseen issues. Crews will be excavating the roadway to access the water main, assessing damage, making repairs, backfilling, and then stabilizing and repairing the roadway.
Motorists should note that the westbound traffic detour on Chanate Road is also still in place for the Chanate Sewer Replacement project that has been in construction for several months. This detour reroutes westbound Chanate Road traffic north onto Parker Hill Road to Stagecoach Road then southwest to Fountaingrove Parkway.
