The Santa Rosa City Council is seeking applicants for one City Council Member seat for District 3 with a term expiring in December 2022. The seat was vacated by Council Member Jack Tibbetts on Dec. 21, 2021. In order to be eligible to hold office as a member of the City Council, a candidate must be a registered voter and residing in District 3 in the Santa Rosa city limits at the time application documents are filed with the City Clerk.  

Starting on Jan. 5 at noon, application documents must be picked up from the City Clerk’s Office in Room 10 at City Hall, 100 Santa Rosa Avenue and filed in person with the City Clerk’s Office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022. 

Each applicant will be interviewed by the City Council at a televised public meeting. Interviews will be scheduled for Feb. 8, 2022, and additional days will be scheduled if needed to accommodate a high volume of applicants. The successful applicant must be an elector and residing in District 3 of the City at the time of application filing and through December 2022 prior to a new District 3 City Council member being elected during 2022 General Election. 

Community Input in Council Appointment Process 

As part of the Council Member appointment process, the Santa Rosa City Council will invite Santa Rosa residents to submit questions that may be considered for use during Council candidate interviews that will be conducted to fill the vacancy. Questions for applicants will be accepted starting Jan. 5 at 8 a.m. until Jan. 19, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. Questions may be submitted in person by picking up the Proposed Interview Question Form in the City Clerk’s Office or online through a survey that will be made available on srcity.org/CouncilVacancy2022.
