The City of Santa Rosa is accepting waiting list applications for the HOME Tenant Based Rental Assistance program beginning today, March 1, and through March 31. This federal subsidy program helps low-income individuals and families afford market-rate, private rental housing within the Santa Rosa city limits for up to two years. Applications are due no later than Thursday, March 31 after which time, the City will conduct a random lottery to determine which applicants will be placed on the waiting list and in what order applications will be reviewed for eligibility. 

Residents may complete an application online at srcity.org/HOME. Individuals requiring Telecommunications Relay Services may use the 7-1-1 dialing code, and for all other accommodations and assistance, residents may call 707-543-3324. Applications are due no later than March 31, 2022.

To qualify for the HOME – Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program, applicants must meet low-income guidelines, which begin at $48,900 for a one-person household and up to $92,160 for an eight-person household. Participants pay approximately 30-40% of their monthly income towards the rent and the HOME program pays the balance of the rent to the rental property owner within reasonable limits for up to two years.

It should be noted that the HOME rental assistance program is a separate federal subsidy program from the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program. Residents who receive rental assistance from Section 8 or any other federal program are not eligible to receive a subsidy from the HOME program.
