CityBus Selected by Federal Transit Administration to Receive $4.3 million

CityBus

The City of Santa Rosa Transit Division has been selected by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to receive $4.3 million in discretionary Buses and Bus Facilities Program funds to support further electrification of the CityBus fixed route fleet.  These funds will be used to complete the funding package for replacement of six model year 2011 diesel-hybrid buses with battery-electric buses, as well as expand bus charging infrastructure.

Given the high cost of transit fleet electrification, these funds will be a key component of the Transit Division’s funding strategy for an accelerated transition of the City’s transit fleet to zero emissions vehicles.

Santa Rosa Transit was one of 70 projects to receive FTA funding nationwide, one of 14 projects funded in California, and one of only three projects awarded in the Bay Area.
