The City of Santa Rosa Fire Station 5 Resiliency and Recovery project reached a major milestone today with completion of the land acquisition for the 2.11-acre Keysight property as the new permanent location for Fire Station 5. The property was purchased from Keysight Technologies at a cost of $205,000.
The original Fire Station 5 located on Newgate Court was destroyed in the October 2017 wildfire. To maintain response times and service to the area, Fire Station 5 is currently operating in a temporary fire station constructed in 2018 on Parker Hill Road.
On February 15, 2022, Santa Rosa City Council approved the purchase of the property as the new permanent location for Fire Station 5 located on the southeast corner of Fountaingrove Parkway and Stagecoach Road, formerly a portion of Keysight’s campus.
Rebuilding at this new location will improve response times for the service area and provide space for a larger facility that will allow for additional staffing to be placed at the station during significant weather events that can include Red Flag Warnings. The location will also be able to serve as a command post during large emergencies.
The environmental phase of the project was completed in March 2022. Now, with completion of the property acquisition, the city plans to release a request for qualifications (RFQ) for a progressive Design Build delivery in the coming weeks. Construction on this project is anticipated to begin in spring/summer 2023.
