The City of Santa Rosa will begin issuing and accepting nomination applications starting Monday, July 18, for residents interested in running for City Council in Districts 2, 3, 4, and 6 for the November 2022 General Election. Prospective candidates will have until August 12 by 5 p.m. to submit all necessary paperwork and proof of eligibility.
To be eligible to run for Santa Rosa City Council, each prospective candidate must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years of age or older on the date of the election, not in prison or on parole for a felony conviction, a registered voter, and reside within the district in which they are running for office within the City of Santa Rosa at the time nomination papers are issued. Any person can verify their voter registration information by visiting the Sonoma County Voter Identification website.
If elected, the council members for Districts 2, 4, and 6 will start their next terms in December of this year and are expected to serve through December 2026; the elected for District 3 will be completing the term of a previously vacated seat and is expected to serve through December 2024.
Prospective candidates interested in running will be issued a nomination packet after visiting the City Clerk’s office at 100 Santa Rosa Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95404 during the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
