Wildfire Training Burns – Stony Point Road – City of Santa Rosa Municipal Services Center

NF_One Less Spark

The Santa Rosa Fire Department will be conducting training burns this week on the west side of the City of Santa Rosa’s Municipal Services Center located at 55 Stony Point Road. The burns will occur on Tuesday (8/9), Wednesday (8/10) and Friday (8/12).

The anticipated burn times are from 9:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. The exact timing will be based on weather conditions and the rotation of our crews that will be participating in the training. Community members can expect to see smoke in the air during this time.

Training burns are carefully planned and must meet strict criteria and fire safety guidelines. When all conditions are met, trained wildland firefighters conduct the burn while monitoring the set criteria, fire behavior, and designated fire control lines. When the burn is completed, crews will monitor and patrol the area to ensure all hot spots are fully extinguished. The prescribed burn will also comply with requirements of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.
