[ARCHIVED] Membership Drive for Recreation Programs Serving At-Risk Youth

Neighborhood Services of Santa Rosa Recreation & Parks is conducting a membership drive and has broadened the criteria for residents to qualify for afterschool, sports, and recreation programs for at-risk youth. All residents who live within five targeted, priority areas of the city are now eligible to apply for a free Neighborhood Services membership, regardless of whether they also meet existing income-based criteria. The goal is to serve more of Santa Rosa’s at-risk youth and families.

Neighborhood Services has identified the priority areas in consultation with the Violence Prevention Partnership's Community Safety Scorecard. These areas are roughly defined as West Steele, West 9th, South Park, Corby/Hearn, and Roseland.

A Membership Night to process new memberships is scheduled for August 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Steele Lane Community Center. Additionally, residents can process new memberships at Finley and Steele Lane Community Centers, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Neighborhood Services programs are funded in part by Measure O sales tax and Change for Kids.

Visit Services for further details about the priority areas, income-based criteria, programs offered, and more information about Neighborhood Services.
