The Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) has an obligation to the public to investigate all leads in connection with any serious crime, regardless of who is involved. SRPD investigators, the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office, and Sonoma County Superior Court Judges concluded that there was sufficient information to believe that evidence related to the investigation could be obtained through the execution of the search warrant.
A search warrant is one of many investigative tools a police department has when conducting its investigations and gathering evidence that might not otherwise be readily acquired. A search warrant may be served on a witness as well as a suspect and does not insinuate wrongdoing or charge anyone with a crime.
The unsealed search warrant affidavit provides a comprehensive overview of the information gathered by SRPD and provided to the court. Given the ongoing investigation related to these matters, the City cannot comment any further at this time.
