[ARCHIVED] Traffic Impacts Anticipated Along the One Mile Rehabilitation of Fulton Road

NF_Fulton Road Widening 9.28.22

Construction to widen and rehabilitate the one-mile segment of Fulton Road between Guerneville Road and Piner Road started in June 2022 and is anticipated to continue for approximately 18-24 months, transforming this section of roadway into an updated, four-lane regional/arterial street, as envisioned in the 2035 Santa Rosa General Plan.

Traffic delays are always expected in projects of this size however, there are some potential traffic controls planned that we would like to bring to your attention as they are anticipated to additionally impact traffic flow.

This month, work has been taking place on Saturdays at various locations along Fulton Road and is anticipated to continue for consecutive Saturdays into mid-October. Traffic delays are likely to occur in these impacted areas when traffic control measures are in place.

In mid to late October, traffic control measures are scheduled to be in place at the intersection of Fulton Road and Piner Road to accommodate construction activity in the roadway. Once underway, this work is anticipated to last for up to three to four days. During that time, motorists should expect traffic delays at the intersection. Residents are encouraged to take alternative routes when possible.

Forestview Creek path is currently closed from Fulton Road to Country Manor Drive, for construction of a retaining wall, with the reopening anticipated in early November. We apologize for any inconvenience to those who use this path. As an alternative, path users might consider using the Peterson Creek path between Guerneville Road and Fulton Road.

This project will improve the safe and efficient flow of traffic with two lanes in each direction, along with a center median and left turn or two-way center turn lanes. To improve comfort levels for bicyclists and pedestrians, Class II bicycle lanes and expanded ADA-accessible sidewalks will be installed on both sides of the street. Once complete, this area will have improved circulation, safety, and overall connectivity. Drainage facilities and stormwater quality features are included, plus enhanced aesthetics with drought-tolerant median and roadside plantings.

Your patience is appreciated as we work to complete this crucial infrastructure project.
