Santa Rosa, Calif. – The Office of Community Engagement and the Santa Rosa Police Department are hosting a drive-thru gun buyback event on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bridge Church (301 Fulton Road) and accepting up to $300 per firearm.
Members of the public who turn in firearms at this event can receive $200 for each functional handgun, rifle, or shotgun; and/or $300 for each functional assault rifle or ghost gun. There is a limit of three (3) firearms that can be exchanged for cash, and drop-offs are anonymous.
“This opportunity comes at a critical time as the City looks to ways to slow potential gun violence while providing funds to those experiencing financial hardship,” said Community Engagement Deputy Director Magali Telles. “We’re incredibly thankful for this collaboration of individuals, organizations, and agencies to fund this important effort.”
The event is drive-thru only, and due to the location of the entry for Bridge Church, people are asked to approach it by heading southbound on Fulton Road from College Avenue. Prior to entry, firearms must be stored in the vehicle’s trunk or rear access. Members of the public will be required to stay in their vehicle and pop the trunk when asked by a police officer, who will remove the firearm(s).
Transactions are anonymous. No ammo will be accepted, and firearms must be unloaded. All firearms collected are set for destruction, and the City reserves the right to refuse any firearm that is not functional.
