City Launches 'Envision Hopper' Community Engagement Campaign

Envision Hopper Avenue Corridor Improvements

The City of Santa Rosa is seeking community input to help shape reconstruction and improvements to the Hopper Avenue corridor, which experienced extensive damage during the 2017 Tubbs Fire and subsequent post-fire debris removal process. The first in a series of opportunities for the community to submit input on the Hopper Avenue Improvement Project is scheduled for Nov. 9 at a virtual community meeting.

“Community input is key as we work to recover, improve, and envision the future for the Hopper Avenue Corridor from Coffey Lane to Highway 101,” said Mayor Chris Rogers.  “In 2021, City Council voted unanimously to dedicate a portion of PG&E settlement funds towards recovery improvements along this vital community roadway”

Envision Hopper is focused on engaging community input, to envision the future for the Hopper Avenue corridor. Public input and feedback will be gathered through a series of community meetings and online surveys.  The first community meeting, where residents are asked to provide input on the Hopper Avenue Corridor Improvement project, will be held virtually on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 5:30 p.m., and Spanish interpretation will be available. For meeting details visit the project website at envisionhopper.com. Residents unable to participate in the community meeting or who wish to share additional comments will have an opportunity to submit feedback through the online survey that will be available on the project website envisionhopper.com following the meeting and will be open through Nov. 28, 2022.

Upon the close of the first online survey, survey results and community feedback will be analyzed to develop concept designs for the Hopper Avenue Corridor. The concept designs will be presented and discussed during the second community meeting planned for spring 2023, followed by a second online survey to further guide the refined vision of the corridor design.

Preliminary designs are expected to be completed by June 2023. The project will then begin the bid process for the Design-Build project phase. Construction for the Hopper Avenue Corridor Improvement project is anticipated to begin fall 2024.
