Is Your Home Rain Ready? Simple Actions Have Big Impacts.

News Flash_Rain Ready

It's that time of year to rake leaves, clear gutters, and replace windshield wiper blades.  People caring for their homes can unknowingly impact local creeks. Materials swept, raked, stored, dropped, thrown, or spilled on the ground or pavement can be carried by rain, residential water, or wind into our local creeks, untreated

A good rule to remember is "Only rain down the storm drain."

Common storm water pollutants include cigarette butts, litter, oil and grease from cars, paint, fertilizers, pesticides, lawn clippings and leaves, pet waste, soapy water, sediment, and construction materials.

Be Prepared:

    • Pick up trash and pet waste daily. Even backyard drains flow to your nearest creek.
    • Place leaf litter and yard clippings in your green bin.
    • Turn off irrigation systems.
    • Repair vehicle and equipment leaks.
    • Use a commercial car wash to reduce and treat used water.

Remember, small changes make a big impact!
