Santa Rosa Water
Posted on: December 7, 2022[ARCHIVED] Water Supply Update - Dec. 7, 2022

(Last updated 12/07/2022)
Working together to save water remains critical with record low storage levels in Lake Sonoma, Santa Rosa’s major source of drinking water. Despite the much-needed rain this fall, the drought is still here. Since Oct. 1, 2022, Santa Rosa has only received 5 inches of rain, 56% of average rainfall for this time of year. As of Dec. 7, 2022, water supply conditions in Lake Sonoma continue to be historically low at 39% of storage capacity. To increase our water supply, substantial rainfall is needed to replenish our local reservoirs. Saving water will also help preserve water supply. Since the Santa Rosa City Council declared a drought emergency in June 2021, our community has achieved an impressive 19% reduction in water use. Continuing to save water this winter matters because we can stretch our water supplies for next year if the drought persists.
