News Flash_Wind Advisory_12.8.22

The National Weather Service is forecasting two storms. The first round of rain will start today (Thursday, 12/8) and bring up to 1” of rain in the Santa Rosa area by Friday. A second and more powerful storm may bring 3” or more to the Santa Rosa area this weekend. Nuisance flooding and ponding of water are possible across Santa Rosa this weekend. A sandbag station is available for City of Santa Rosa residents. Also, residents in and around the Glass Fire burn scar should take steps to be prepared.

Saturday will also be windy. The National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory that will be in effect from midnight Friday night to 1 pm on Saturday. South winds for valley areas are forecasted to be 15 to 25 mph, with gusts of 30 to 40 mph expected. Ridges and Hilltops will experience south winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts 35 to 45 mph, up to 50 mph expected. This includes all of Santa Rosa.

Prepare in advance of the storms and secure outdoor holiday decorations or other loose items. Prepare for possible wind related power outages. Use extra caution when driving. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, and tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
