As the holidays come to a close, remember to properly plan to have your holiday tree recycled the zero-waste way, by turning it into mulch or compost. Only real trees, without decorations, lights, stands, tinsel and flocking can be recycled and composted.
Here are Santa Rosa residents' options to recycle your holiday tree.
Curbside Residential Collection
Trees may be placed on your curb the night before your regular collection day during December 26th – January 6th. Flocked trees will not be recycled. Trees over six (6) feet should be cut in half in order to fit in the compost cart.
For curbside tree recycling on regular collection days outside of the dates above, please cut down unflocked trees free of all accessories and decorations to fit inside your green organics bin with the lid closed. Do not bag your tree!
Drop-off
Santa Rosa residents may drop-off whole unflocked trees at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds, 1350 Bennett Valley Road (Jockey Club entrance), December 26, 2022 – January 13, 2023, between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Non-profit Whole Tree Pick-up
Call (707) 565-3333 to make an appointment for pickup. Pickups will be available Dec.31, 2022, as well as Jan. 1, 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2023. Call before Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, to make an appointment. The suggested donation for this service is $7 for trees less than 6 feet and $10 for larger trees.
