The Santa Rosa Police Department recently showed its support for the Special Olympics by participating in the 2023 Law Enforcement Torch Run. Law enforcement agencies across California participate in this relay-style event to raise awareness and funds for the Special Olympics.
Early in the morning on Tuesday, June 20, Santa Rosa Police officers and staff jogged over 5 miles from the Santa Rosa Police Department and south on Santa Rosa Avenue, carrying the torch symbolizing hope and inclusivity. The community witnessed their dedication and commitment as they made their way to Rohnert Park where they handed over the torch to Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety for the next leg of the relay.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is another way SRPD actively supports the community and serves as a powerful way to show support for Special Olympics athletes. This is the 20th year SRPD has participated in the run, strengthening the bond between law enforcement and the community.
