Night Work Planned for Sewer Replacement Project

NF_Night Work 300x190px

The City of Santa Rosa is beginning work on the Los Alamos Trunk Sewer Replacement Segment 1. The project will replace approximately 5,300 feet of the existing Los Alamos Trunk sewer pipeline installed in the 1950s. To improve performance, 24-inch diameter sewer pipes will be used in this project. The new pipeline will be installed adjacent to the existing pipeline alignment; however, it will be necessary to relocate small portions of the water main to create adequate separation from the proposed sewer line in certain locations. Construction will begin at Streamside Drive and progress eastward to Elaine Drive. The project is anticipated to be completed in Fall 2024, weather permitting.

The upgraded pipe materials will improve the performance of the sewer and water system, and new sewer lines will reduce blockages caused by tree roots and minimize the need for repairs. These much-needed upgrades will also decrease groundwater infiltration into the sewer system, maintaining the effectiveness of the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant. New water lines will improve water flows and pressure to fire hydrants, protecting the community’s homes and property. Once sewer and water improvements are installed, streets will be re-paved, and pedestrian ramps will be improved where necessary.

Construction will begin at Streamside Drive and progress eastward to Elaine Drive. Night work is tentatively scheduled to start at 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, lasting approximately one week near Mission Circle. Night work will begin again in early September, lasting approximately 4 to 5 weeks, weather permitting. Night work is scheduled to help minimize temporary impacts on the public and businesses. Our goal is to improve our community infrastructure without creating any more disturbance than necessary.
