A Red Flag Warning is now in effect for portions of the Bay Area beginning as early as Saturday morning continuing through Sunday evening due to gusty offshore winds and low humidity. Saturday night through early Sunday will be the most critical time period.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
Limit outdoor activities that could start a wildfire. Use this time to take precautionary measures that include clearing leaves out of roof gutters and off of roofs, and trimming trees 10’ away from roof lines (using manual tools). Powered machinery such as mowers and other equipment, that could spark a wildfire, should only be used before 10 a.m. and never when it’s excessively hot, dry, and windy.
