[ARCHIVED] Neighborhood Road Disaster Recovery Project

NF_Road Recovery ENG

Argonaut Constructors, under contract with the City of Santa Rosa, is preparing to begin work on the much-anticipated Coffey Park & Fountaingrove Neighborhood Road Disaster Recovery Project. Work is expected to begin in Coffey Park on December 11, 2023. The project will begin by systematically replacing curb ramps then proceeding with resurfacing 33-miles of neighborhood streets damaged following the 2017 Tubbs Fire. This project is expected to be completed in May 2025, weather permitting.

Two pavement treatment options will be applied to resurface the pavement on this project. One pavement treatment option will involve a mill-and-fill asphalt replacement and the other involves dig-out repairs and application of a latex-modified, high-volume traffic slurry seal treatment. The type of pavement surface treatment applied to a street depends on the pavement condition of the roadway. Pavement surfaces with localized damage will receive isolated repairs followed by application of a latex-modified, high-volume traffic slurry seal treatment to protect and extend the service life of the roadway, consistent with International Slurry Surfacing Association guidelines. More severely damaged pavement will receive mill-and-fill asphalt replacement, where the top layer of pavement will be milled and removed then filled in with new hot-mix asphalt.

Temporary road closures may be necessary during this project, however, emergency services will maintain access through the area at all times. The contractor will notify residents at least 72 hours prior to the start of construction on their street. Access to driveways will be limited and street parking will be restricted during the resurfacing process. Although temporary impacts to the neighborhood are inevitable, the goal is to improve the City's roadways without creating any more disturbance than necessary.
