Nominations are now being accepted for Santa Rosa individuals, businesses and organizations deserving of recognition for their community volunteerism—leading to improved quality of life in Santa Rosa. This year, the Merit Awards Committee is pleased to announce an additional category of recognition: Community Heroes. With the groundswell of volunteerism in the wake of the October fire disaster, the Committee looks forward to accepting nominations of those individuals who have sought ways to address the challenges faced by our community.
Nominations will be reviewed by the Merit Awards Committee and winners will be honored in the following categories:
• Beautifying the Santa Rosa community
• Serving others, particularly young people, seniors and those in need
• Expanding and enriching the artistic and historical culture of the City
• Strengthening neighborhoods
• Fostering sustainability and protecting the environment
• Community heroes
The deadline for nominations is March 1, 2018. The 2018 Merit Awards will be presented by the Mayor and City Council at City Hall Council Chambers on April 16, 2018. Nominations may be made by anyone.
Since 1978, the City’s annual Merit Awards have acknowledged and celebrated the outstanding work being done to strengthen neighborhoods, serve people in need, expand our artistic and historical culture and beautify the community.
