When the train at Santa Rosa’s Youth Park opens for the season at noon on May 5th, families are invited to a Golden Spike celebration and to be among the first to enjoy double the train riding experience! That’s because Redwood Empire Live Steamers Interactive Museum has just completed a 1,000-foot, back loop track expansion, taking train riders beyond the existing waterfall loop and into the back, wooded section of the park.
The project, which was completed with the help of the Boy Scouts of America, brings the total length of track to just over 2,000 feet. The train and track, built and operated by Redwood Empire Live Steamers, offers free rides to train lovers of all ages at Youth Park, one weekend a month May to October.
The Grand Opening and ‘Driving of the Golden Spike’ begins at noon on May 5, 2018 at Youth Park in Santa Rosa (1701 Fulton Road), followed by free train rides until 4pm. The train’s operating schedule for the 2018 season is Saturday and Sunday, noon to 4pm: May 5 & 6, June 2 & 3, July 7 & 8, August 4 & 5, September 1 & 2 and October 6 & 7.
