HOST is a street outreach team that works to engage persons experiencing homelessness into services and housing in collaboration with the Police Department’s Downtown Enforcement Team (DET) and other service providers, such as Social Advocates for Youth. The City Council funded this pilot effort starting in August 2015 and continuing through June 2019. HOST served nearly 700 people during the past year.
HOST’s Clean Start Program, in addition to providing access to clean showers and bathrooms, serves as an outreach tool to further HOST’s efforts to engage persons experiencing homelessness in our community into services. Catholic Charities owns and operates the trailer, which is 16 feet long by 7 feet wide and has two bathroom-shower units.
