[ARCHIVED] Funding for Homeless Services

Samuel L. Jones Hall exterior

On April 17th, Sonoma County’s homeless system of care, named Home Sonoma County, allocated more than $14 million in homeless services funding for projects throughout Sonoma County. The City of Santa Rosa was approved for $1.2 million toward a new roof at Samuel L. Jones Hall Homeless Shelter, a City-owned facility that is the largest shelter in the region serving approximately 700 vulnerable individuals annually. In 2017, the City identified the replacement of the roof as a critical need which will now be resolved as a result of this funding opportunity. The City’s $2 million request for the use of the former Bennett Valley Senior Center for homeless services was not among the projects approved for funding.

This funding was part of the State of California’s Homeless Emergency Aid Program, a block grant program established to provide localities with funds to address their immediate homelessness challenges.
