CalHome News Item Graphic

The CalHome Disaster Assistance Loan Program has expanded to make households earning up to 120% of the Area Median Income (AMI), which is currently $111,950 for a family of four, eligible for the Program (the previous AMI was up to 80%). The program provides eligible Santa Rosa homeowners whose homes were damaged or destroyed in the October 2017 wildfires, who owned their homes at the time of the fire, and who have not yet begun to rebuild the opportunity to apply for gap funding of up to $100,000.

Visit the program page for more information and to view an income eligibility chart.

Background

After the 2017 wildfires, the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Rosa applied for and was awarded a $1.2 million CalHome Disaster Assistance grant from the California Department of Housing and Community Development. To best utilize these funds, the Housing Authority is offering low-interest, deferred payment loans as gap financing for the reconstruction or rehabilitation of income-qualified, owner‐occupied, single‐family homes located within Santa Rosa city limits.

The objective of the Loan Program is to provide financial assistance to eligible households in the form of gap financing after insurance proceeds or other financing have been applied. Eligible borrowers must be households with incomes up to 120% of Adjusted Median Income (AMI), adjusted for household size, and must intend to be the owner‐occupants of the home when work is complete.
