[ARCHIVED] Boat Dock and Launch Open at Lake Ralphine

HP Blue Green Algae_news flash

A potentially toxic algae bloom recently spotted near the Boathouse at Lake Ralphine at Howarth Park has been pushed out of the area by wind. The dock, boat launch and weekend boating activities are now open to the public.

Blue Green Algae can be dangerous to people and pets. Always keep dogs away from the water at Lake Ralphine. Lake users should avoid contact with the blooms and should not ingest the water. As a precaution, boating and paddle boarding activities will be canceled whenever blooms are found to be located near the boathouse and dock.

Testing was conducted after the first Blue Green Algae bloom was spotted near the boathouse in early August and that bloom was found to be non-toxic. However, it is not possible to tell just by looking at a bloom whether it is toxic, and lake users and their pets should avoid all contact with the algae.
