[ARCHIVED] Update on Algae at Lake Ralphine

HP Blue Green Algae_news flash

Potentially toxic Blue Green Algae has been intermittently spotted near the dock and boat launch at Lake Ralphine at Howarth Park recently. As a precaution, the boat dock and launch has been closed and boating activities canceled whenever these naturally occurring algae blooms are located in the area. These blooms are pushed by wind and move in and out of the boat launch area.

Blue Green Algae can be dangerous to people and pets. Always keep dogs away from the water at Lake Ralphine. Lake users should avoid contact with the blooms and should not ingest the water.

Signage is posted at the lake near the launch and boathouse when blooms are present.
