Sonoma County Department of Health Services, Environmental Health and Safety is investigating a potentially toxic bloom of Blue Green Algae in the creek/pond at Rincon Valley Community Park. The algae bloom was reported on September 9, 2019.
Additionally, potentially toxic Blue Green Algae has been intermittently spotted near the dock and boat launch at Lake Ralphine at Howarth Park. As a precaution, the boat dock and launch has been closed and boating activities canceled whenever these naturally occurring algae blooms are located in the area. These blooms are pushed by wind and move in and out of the boat launch area.
Blue Green Algae can be dangerous to people and pets. Always follow these important safety guidelines:
- Stay Out of Water
- Keep Dogs Away from Water
- Do Not Drink Water
- Avoid Contact with Algae
- Clean Fish and Any Berries Collected Near the Water's Edge Before Eating
